Kimberly's Carousel

Kimberly's Carousel

Built in 1917, this attraction is one of the country’s oldest, original carousels. Purchased by George Stoiber who grew up on the island, he wanted to restore the carousel to its original glory as an homage to the one he grew up riding as a kid. Not only has he restored 12 of the original horses with the help of his wife’s artistic skills, George has added some really fun characters that will not only bring a smile to your kid's faces but gives credit to the islands rich history. Ride along on various animals, a hand-carved five-foot Lake Erie perch, and a lovers tub that mimics the one George grew up riding.

In order to ride the carousel, you’ll need to stop into Put-in-Bay’s Carriage House to purchase your tickets. While you’re there, be sure to take a look around as you’ll want to pick up a souvenir or two. The Carriage House is one of the islands largest shops, carrying over 600 items bearing the islands name. They also have a wide selection of collectibles, toys, clothing, and fun gifts.
Still trying to get a handle on all Put-in-Bay has to offer? There is so much to do here, that it can get a bit overwhelming. Why not pick up The Put-in-Bay Gazette before making all those plans?
The island’s only newspaper, the Gazette will keep you up to date on everything happening in the area. Upcoming events, important island information, and a little more about the community, for only a quarter, it’s more than worth it to pick up this handy tool.
